In our opinion, Stark Bro’s is the place to go online to buy a wide variety of fruit trees and shrubs. It helps when you have been in business for over 100 years and are the oldest continually operating nursery in the United States.

Stark Bro’s sells a lot of bareroot and smaller container trees and shrubs. It also makes us a little nervous when we see them say things like; “Professionally pruned for FREE!“. Just from my experience at other online nurseries, that usually means pruning to be able to get the tree in a smaller box and save on shipping costs.

I’m always leery of the dreaded asterisk (*) and what disclaimers are involved. In the case of Stark Bro’s, it’s not bad. Way at the bottom of the site it states; ” Free Shipping applies to standard orders shipping to the 48 lower contiguous states. (A $50 surcharge will be added for shipments to Alaska.)”.

It is refreshing when we find other online nurseries just labeling a tree by the height to see someone like Stark Bro’s go into more detail.
