Spring Hill Nurseries Review
Spring Hill’s rating was 69 with a D grade for our latest update. That puts them in last place in our top 20. They have been around since 1996, and have a site that is pretty easy on the eyes & simple to get around on.
You know their plant quality is suspect when one of their suppliers didn’t want us to take pictures or associate them as a supplier to Spring Hill’s. That is a major red flag.
Spring Hill Nurseries Google customer reviews are rough. Most were unpleasant comments on plant quality. Shipping times also seemed to be a big issue. Spring Hill Nursery does not fare better with the Better Business Bureau. Read BBB reviews here. 44 reviews with a 1.14 rating.
Spring Hill Nurseries sizes we saw ranged from 4″ to 1-gallon containers. It’s not easy to find a listing for just evergreen shrubs or evergreen trees. Overall, they appear to have a decent selection of trees, shrubs & perennials.
When we checked recently prices are almost as high as Nature Hills. That’s not good.
Spring Hill shipping rates were on the lower end compared to other online nurseries. For a $100 order, you would pay $15.95 shipping.
The return policy is a bit unique and seems to have been changed recently. Spring Hill issues a replacement certificate; “Order with complete confidence. We select and ship only the finest quality bulbs, plants, and trees. We pack them carefully to ensure they arrive safely. If you are not pleased with your purchase, please call or email us and our Customer Service representatives will be happy to help you obtain a merchandise credit. Your order is important to us, and we want you, our customer, to be completely satisfied.”
Harder to find these days but you can join the Spring Hill Nursery mailing list to receive catalogs here.
They seem to have a pretty thorough library of planting guides, how-to videos, and other resources.
What were the red flags?
- The pricing and site promotions are a bit tricky. Charging $80 for a 3-foot bare-root tree is a bit absurd.
- They are getting hammered pretty hard on Google and the BBB with negative customer reviews. That’s never a good sign.
