Spring Hill Nurseries Review
Spring Hill’s rating came in at 72.5 with a C- grade for our latest update. That keeps them mired in the bottom third of our rankings.
Spring Hill Nursery has been around since 1996, and has a site that is pretty easy on the eyes & simple to get around on.
Spring Hill Nurseries Google customer reviews are rough. As of October 1, 244 Google reviews with an abysmal 1.8 average. Most were unpleasant comments on plant quality. Shipping times also seemed to be a big issue. It’s also interesting that the Google business box which contains the reviews has been removed.
Spring Hill Nursery sizes we saw ranged from 4″ to 1 gallon containers. It’s not easy to find a listing for just evergreen shrubs or evergreen trees. Overall, they appear to have a decent selection of trees, shrubs & perennials.
When we checked at the end of January, Spring Hill Nurseries prices seemed really high. $39.99 for a 4 inch pot, dormant hydrangea is crazy. $79.99 for a 3 to 4 foot bareroot redbud tree is more than I would ever be willing to pay. Their prices are almost as high as Nature Hills.
Spring Hill shipping rates were on the lower end compared to other online nurseries. For a $100 order, you would pay $15.95 shipping.
The return policy is a bit unique and his seems to have been changed recently. Spring Hill apparently issue replacement certificates; “Order with complete confidence. We select and ship only the finest quality bulbs, plants, and trees. We pack them carefully to ensure they arrive safely. If you are not pleased with your purchase, please call or email us and our Customer Service representatives will be happy to help you obtain a merchandise credit. Your order is important to us, and we want you, our customer, to be completely satisfied.”
Harder to find these days but you can join the Spring Hill Nursery mailing list to receive catalogs here.
They seem to have a pretty thorough library of planting guides, how-to videos and other resources.
What were the red flags?
- The pricing and site promotions are a bit tricky. Charging $80 for a 3 foot bare root tree is a bit absurd.
- They are getting hammered pretty hard on Google with negative customer reviews. That’s never a good sign.
