Description
Fatsia japonica (Japanese Aralia) – This is an evergreen with a tropical look. Thick, erect stems support huge dark green palmate leaves. Roundish clusters of small cream flowers appear in the fall. It performs well in low light areas and prefers shady spots outdoors.
This ornamental houseplant gets their name from the Japanese word fatsi which means “eight” and refers to their deeply lobed, hand-like leaves.
Fatsia japonica can grow to about 6-10 ft. tall outdoors. Hardy in zones 8-11. Grown indoors, it makes an excellent houseplant that is easy to care for and pet friendly.
