Description
The Zutano Avocado Tree is a cold-hardy avocado that can take temperatures as low as 26 degrees F. The fruit size is medium, and mature Zutano Avocados are between 10 and 12 ounces each. They are green when ripe and have a somewhat thin, bumpy skin. Mature trees reach heights of 25 to 35 feet and widths of 18 feet.
Zutano Avocado Trees can be grown in the ground in USDA Zones 8 to 11, or in a container in USDA Zones 4 to 11. They are often grown commercially as a pollinator for the Hass Avocado variety, and the flesh is slightly less nutty in flavor than some other Mexican Avocados. The flesh is bright yellow with a small to medium-sized, smooth, easily removed seed.
