Description
Full Sun? No Problem for The Autumn Amethyst Encore Azalea!
Autumn Amethyst Encore Azalea is one of the few Rhododendrons that can survive in full sun. This Encore Azalea is also one of the most cold hardy, all the way up to grow zone 5. Autumn Amethyst is a re-blooming evergreen that will provide you with purple flowers to enjoy spring, summer, and fall. The foliage will turn from green to a slight burgundy tinge in the winter. This truly is a unique Azalea.
Azaleas are part of the Rhododendron family and as such, prefer a slightly acidic soil. Other than that, just make sure the soil drains well. The roots don’t like standing water. Although rated for full sun, try to avoid planting it in grow zones t through 8 in places where they will get a lot of late afternoon summer sun.
