Capistrano Rhododendron

Description

Cold Hardy Rhododendron With Unique Yellow Flowers

Capistrano Rhododendron is popular for producing a lot of frilly, lemon-yellow flowers in mid-season. The rich lemon-yellow flowers are produced in large, rounded trusses.

Dark green leaves are somewhat rounded at the apex. The late Dr. David Leach, a pioneer in the development of hardy Rhododendrons for American gardens, considered this to be his best yellow.  It will be a stand out in any landscape.

Growth habit of ‘Capistrano’ is compact and spreading, reaching 4 to 5 feet tall and 5 to 6 feet wide at maturity. This plant is considered very disease-and pest-resistant.
