LSU Gold Fig Tree is Fast-Growing!
The LSU Gold Fig Tree is a fast-growing fig that was developed by the LSU Agriculture Center. The LSU Gold Fig Tree grows very large, light yellow figs that have pink or light red flesh. The main advantage of the LSU Gold Fig Tree is the size of the figs, which can grow to 3 or 4 inches across, and 1.25 to 1.75 ounces. LSU Gold Figs bloom in spring and are ripe and ready to eat from July through August.
The LSU Gold Fig is a medium-sized tree, growing to a mature size of about 12 to 15 feet tall, and 8 to 10 feet wide. They are self-fertile and do best in partial to full sun. The LSU Gold Fig Tree is considered to be cold hardy, and can tolerate temperatures down to 15 to 20 degrees F.
