Description
Autumn Bonfire is a Cold Hardy Dwarf Azalea
Autumn Bonfire Encore Azalea is considered a dwarf since it only gets about 3 feet tall and wide. This is an Azalea that can stand the heat. It thrives in partial to full sun. Just make sure to water it deeply & regularly after planting until established (the first few months.
Autumn Bonfire Encore Azaleas feature deep red semi-double blooms that keep coming for 3 seasons. These evergreen shrubs have full, dense foliage that rarely, if ever, requires any pruning. These are extremely attractive when used in groupings of 3 or more. They also are popular in mixed beds and even do well in containers. Because of their small size, Autumn Blaze Azalea also looks great along walkways, driveways, and borders.
As with most Rhododendrons, the Autumn Bonfire Azalea prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soil. A good bark mulch 3 inches deep should provide acidity. There are specialty Rhododendron and Azalea fertilizers available at most garden centers. Fertilize twice a year. Once in late fall, after the shrubs have stopped blooming, and again in early spring, before new growth emerges.
