Description
Autumn Ruby Encore Azalea is a Show Stopper, No Matter What the Season
Considered a semi-dwarf Rhododendron, Autumn Ruby Encore Azalea blooms twice a year!. In spring and again in summer this azalea is blanketed in brilliant red flowers that can get as big a 1.25″ across. When not flowering, this evergreen shrub keeps its light green leaves, providing a bright contrast for other plants through all 4 seasons.
Autumn Ruby Encore Azalea is considered semi-dwarf, not getting much above 3 feet tall and wide. This makes it great to use along walkways and borders. They would make a great shorter hedge and will look good in containers.
Autumn Ruby™ Encore® Azalea Planting and Care
When planting Autumn Ruby™ Encore® Azalea in soil with good drainage and mulch. Bark mulch is preferred because they are usually slightly acidic which azaleas prefer. Dig your planting hole twice as wide as the container and mix your soil with a high quality soil or compost. Make sure when you place the root ball in the hole you dug that the top of the dirt from the container is visible. Don’t bury them too deep! Having dirt around the base of the shrub’s stem can cause them to rot.
Water regularly until established, and make sure they get enough water during extended hot days with no rain. Pruning is not recommended but if you want to trim a little it is recommended to do so after the spring blooms are gone.
Autumn Ruby™ Encore® Azalea Spacing
If you want to create a formal hedge, space Autumn Ruby™ Encore® Azalea 3 to 4 feet apart on center. If using along your house as foundation plantings, plant them 5 feet apart on center.
