One of the Most Cold Hardy Camellia’s
Winter Joy Camellia (Camellia sasanqua Winters Joy) is a hybrid Camellia with deep pink, semi-double blooms from fall into winter. The buds look like a rose bud as they open. Winter Joy is one of the most cold hardy Camellia’s. It grows relatively upright but with a bit of a mounding habit. Very unique adding dramatic color blooming in early winter.
Uses: Winter Joy Camellia’s are often used as foundation plants. Because of their dense foliage, Winter Joy also makes a great hedge. You can train Winter Joy to seem more like a tree. As it grows, prune off lower branches to create an attractive, small evergreen tree.
