Also known as Heavenly Bamboo, Gulfstream Nandina is a compact evergreen shrub with year round changing colors. New leaves on a Gulfstream Nandina start out as a crimson red, change over to a blue-ish green before becoming a bright green.
Gulfstream nandina produces small white flowers in spring. They aren’t very noticeable except they will attract pollinators. Red berries appear in late fall that are very ornamental. Gulfstream Nandina are great for smaller spaces. They are also popular in containers.
Despite it’s name ‘Gulfstream’, this Nandina is one of the most cold tolerant Nandina shrubs. It is rated up to Grow Zone 6
