Super Cold Hardy Karen Azalea Evergreen Shrub

Able to withstand winters up to grow zone 4, Karen is a great choice for a spring flowering shrub almost anywhere. The stunning mid-spring blooms have a pink to almost purple color.

The glossy green leaves turn reddish-purple in the fall and keep that color through winter.

Karen Azalea can handle sun but it best to plant it will they will get morning sun but not the blistering summer sun. Like most azaleas, they perform best in acidic soil. There are plenty of acidic soil amendments you can buy specifically for Azaleas. Just mix that in with the top 2 to 3 inches of the soil in your planting hole.

At maturity, they get 2 to 4 feet tall and 3 to 5 feet wide. This makes Karen Azalea great to use as a specimen, in a grouping or even as foundation plants. C Glossy green leaves turn red-purple in the fall, and hold the color throughout the winter. Karen performs best in rich soil that is moist and acidic. It cannot tolerate wet soils or drought. Benefits from growing in an area with morning sun and afternoon shade.
