Soft Touch Japanese is a smaller, dwarf holly at about 3 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide. It keep a natural rounded form and has dense foliage.  Soft Touch Hollies don’t have the spiky leaves like other hollies, making them great as a low hedge. They are also great as a low maintenance shrub for borders and along walkways or driveways. It is also popular as a foundation planting. Soft Touch Holly shrubs are pretty tolerant of most soil types and are drought tolerant once established.

The best time to plant is in the spring or early fall. It is drought tolerant once established and adapts to a variety of soil conditions. The Ilex Soft Touch Japanese Holly is extremely low maintenance. It does not need much pruning. Grows to about 2-3 feet tall and wide and has a slow growth rate. Prune lightly as needed to keep its shape.

Plant them where they can get full to partial sunlight. Soft Touch can handle about 4 to 8 hours of sun a day.
